SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos Hierax, circa 242-227 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.50 g, 12 h), Ilion. Diademed head of an idealized king to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ANTIOXOY Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on bow; to outer left, small round shield. Bellinger T20. HGC 9, 405f. Mektepini 220. SC 869. Rare and with a fine portrait of an uncertain king (Hierax, or more likely Antiochos II). Harshly cleaned and porous, and with cracks on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
